Welcome to the Sarasota Film Society's Frequently Asked Questions page. Here, we will do our best to answer most of the questions you might have about the Film Society or its policies.
Open All Close All- Is my membership valid at both Burns Court and Lakewood Ranch Cinemas, or do I have to join each one?
You only need one membership to enjoy everything that both cinemas have to offer. Your membership is with the Sarasota Film Society, not Burns Court or Lakewood Ranch Cinemas specifically.
- Is there a senior discount?
Unfortunatley, we do not offer a senior discount. The best way to recieve a discount on films is to join the Film Society and recieve 35% off of admission every day regardless of your age.
- I'm having trouble with my membership! Who can help me?
If there is any problem with your membership please directly contact the Sarasota Film Society's Membership Coordinator: Bea Fulford. She can be reached by phone at 941.364.8662 x2016 or by email at bea@filmsociety.org.
- I have an event I would like to host at one of your theaters. What's my next step?
If you would like to use our facilities for a meeting, screening, private showing, etc. then you can find a lot of information right on our website under the "Event Rentals" menu at the top of the site. - How much is membership and how do I join?
A membership to the filmsociety varies in price and benefits. For more information on this topic, please check our website under the "Membership" menu at the top of the website. If you still have questions, feel free to ask any employee at either location.
Because your membership is valid at both our our locations, you can also sign up at either one as well! We can accept memberships by phone, on our website, by mail, or in person!
- Can you look up my membership at the theater or do I have to bring my card?
Unfortunatley, we cannot look up your membership information at the theater. In order to recieve your discount, you must present your membership card at the time of purchase. Remember, one discount per card shown.
- If I have a Dual Membership do I have to bring both cards, or can I bring either one?
In order to recieve your membership discounts, you must present both cards at the time of purchase. You will recieve one discount per card shown.
- I'm trying to buy tickets online as a member. How do I receive my member discount online?
When you click to purchase your tickets, you will see the button for "Member's Only" tickets. You can purchase them at your discounted rate from there. Please remember, however, that you must always present one membership card for every member ticket purchased online at the time of pick up. Otherwise, you will not be able to claim your tickets.
- I just bought tickets online. How do I get into my showing?
Once you have purchased your tickets online, you should receive an email conformation of your purchase. Please make sure and print your receipt to bring with you to the theater in order to claim your tickets.
Also, you can bring in the credit card that you used to purchase the tickets with, and they can print your tickets at the box office.
- Is there reserved seating at Burns Court or Lakewood Ranch?
No, all seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you want to make sure to stay out of the front row then please be sure to show up at least twenty minutes early.
